There are so many ways to make lots of gold while playing the Elder Scrolls Online, all of which depending on how you want to play and what works best (and fastest) for your play style. If you’ve been doing your research, you already know that crafting items is a great way to start making money for Elder Scrolls Online weapons collectors. Let’s have a look at one of the most useful crafting professions—Alchemy!

Important Points in Alchemy for Elder Scrolls Online Weapons Collectors

If you attempt to create a potion using reagents without common Alchemy traits, the attempt will fail. On top of that, you will lose the reagents, and you will not receive a potion of any kind. You will still receive a small amount of Alchemy experience, but of course it wouldn’t be worth the reagents you lost as you could’ve made use of that.

In order to successfully create a potion, you need to ensure your reagents have common alchemy traits as the final effects of the created potion will be defined by the shared traits between the reagents. For example, if you combine Columbine (Restore Health, Restore Stamina, Restore Magicka, Unstoppable effects) and Bugloss (Increase Spell Resist, Lower Spell Power, Restore Health, Restore Magicka effects), you will be able to craft a potion with two effects since these two reagents have two common traits: Restore Health and Restore Magicka. You need two instances of a trait for it to become an effect of the created potion.

Making money off Alchemy could take some time. However, exceptionally high-leveled potions could generate a lot of profit for you, depending on what’s currently in demand in the market. Either way, if you’re in need of fast cash for Elder Scrolls Online items, then Alchemy is a way to go.

Traits vs. Anti-Traits for Elder Scrolls Online Weapons Collectors

Traits can also be countered by their anti-traits. For example, Ravage Stamina effects counter Restore Stamina effects, and vice versa. It’s important to know the anti-traits of all traits to prevent them from nullifying the effects. Upon successful creation of the potion, all of the common alchemy traits between the reagents used in the potion creating process will be learned. From then on, every time you deal with these reagents, those alchemy traits will be revealed. Here’s a rundown of all the traits and their anti-traits.

  • Restore Health – Ravage Health
  • Restore Magicka – Ravage Magicka
  • Restore Stamina – Ravage Stamina
  • Increase Weapon Power – Lower Weapon Power
  • Increase Spell Power – Lower Spell Power
  • Weapon Crit – Lower Weapon Crit
  • Spell Crit – Lower Spell Crit
  • Increase Armor – Lower Armor
  • Increase Spell Resist – Lower Spell Resist
  • Unstoppable – Stun
  • Speed – Reduce Speed
  • Invisibility – Detection

Useful Alchemy Reagents for Elder Scrolls Online Weapons Collectors

As expected, some plants and mushrooms are much more useful than the others. Here’s just a few of the alchemy reagents that you will often encounter when crafting potions for profit:

  • Columbine
  • Dragonthorn
  • Namira’s Rot
  • Lady’s Smock
  • Blessed Thistle
  • Water Hyacinth
  • Bugloss
  • Wormwood
  • Mountain Flower
  • Blue Entoloma
  • Cornflower

Columbine is a great alchemy reagent to have, because it restores health, stamina, magicka and provides immunity against CC effects. Dragonthorn is another awesome ingredient, and is the only alchemy reagent which increases both Weapon Damage and Weapon Crit, which should be valuable for you as an Elder Scrolls Online weapons collector. Lady’s Smock is the Spell Damage and Spell Crit version of Dragonthorn. If you want a potion with Spell Crit and Spell Damage, you will most likely need Lady’s Smock. Namira’s Rot has spell crit, invisibility, speed, and unstoppable effects. Hence, it is a very useful ingredient for your utility potions.
