A few weeks back, everyone was stoked for the many and great gameplay changes that will be taking place in Elder Scrolls Online once the One Tamriel patch has already rolled in. But now, one particular ESO accounts owner, Beth Elderkin, has expressed her disappointment with how the massive update has affected the game. Because to her, it’s definitely not for the better.

To be fair, she didn’t say that the game became worse because of the update; rather, the experience has become dampened for a lot of players who play solo, or at least spend more time playing alone, and for a lot of good reasons.

While she praised the fact that players can now visit any city regardless of what faction players may be, the same can’t be said with the other changes in the game. According to her, it’s because the enemies are always on the same level as you. This has made the enemies in the game a bit too monotonous for her.

ESO Accounts: Scaling Problem

Sure, the enemies use different methods of attack, but the fact that they will always be as powerful as one another –and you – takes away the diversity they used to have. In addition, this lessens the feeling of progress soloists’ ESO accounts holders used to feel. Before they get clobbered by a particular enemy, but as they progressed in level they fare better and better against it, until the time comes when they can one-shot it. This makes players feel like they’ve become stronger. But thanks to the update, players can no longer feel that way, because every time and everywhere, mobs will always be just as strong as they are, never neither less nor more.

Beth understands why these changes had to happen to the game. After all, ESO is an MMO game; the draw will always be about player-to-player interactions, and that’s what One Tamriel managed to improve. That, however, came at the cost of solo play. Hopefully, Bethesda and Zenimax would be able to find a compromise that would make both parties happy. And more hopefully, it would happen sooner than later.
